John has over 40 years experience as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in private practice and local government as well as a period in industry as Contract Director, Press Offshore (part of the AMEC Group) and Commercial Director, AMEC Process and Energy International. Experience of all construction disciplines including claims and arbitration work in a variety of countries world-wide.


 
John Fenwick BA (Hons)

Consultant

John has worked in the construction and engineering industries since qualifying as a Solicitor in 1974.  He became Head of Legal Services for the John Laing group during 1974-1988 and then joined the AMEC group in 1988 in a similar role.  He retired from formal practice in 2002 but has continued to work as a consultant on specific projects.  He has a broad experience of legal matters affecting business but with particular emphasis on main and subcontract conditions of contract (both standard form and bespoke), joint venture and other collaborative agreements, acquisition and disposal of businesses and claims and dispute resolution.

 

Michael G W Conisbee FRICS FIOCS ACIArb

Consultant

Michael is a chartered quantity surveyor, claims consultant, adjudicator and expert witness with over 40 years experience on a wide variety of building, civil engineering and mining projects from both the commercial and industrial sectors of industry. Wide ranging experience and expertise in all aspects of quantity surveying from enquiry to project completion acting on behalf of end-clients, main contractors and specialist sub-contractors. Key areas of focus have included: feasibility studies, cost planning, project management / financial management controls, consultancy, estimating, final account preparation, negotiation and agreement, contractual claims preparation / defence and negotiation. Experienced as an expert witness and as an adjudicator on a variety of construction and professional disputes.

Dirk Fitzhugh

Consultant

Dirk has over 30 years experience in the construction industry, having been a legal advisor in the Tarmac (Group Legal Advisor 1992-1999) and Cavillion Group (Company Secretary / Head of Legal 1999-2001) for some 28 years with involvement in projects in the UK and abroad. He now acts as a consultant to industry providing commercial and contract advisory services.

 

Peter Rodgers

Consultant

Peter has over 36 years service as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with high level experience in contracting, private practice and Local Authority. Fully experienced in the building, civil, oil and gas exploration and mechanical engineering industries, working in all disciplines, both pre and post contract including final accounts, claim formulation and defence, nationally and internationally, under bespoke and standard forms of contract.

 

Philip Peeke-Vout

Consultant

Philip has over 40 years experience in a broad based spectrum of construction and engineering disciplines ranging from major government projects, civils, power generation, de-commissioning, pharmaceuticals and oil/gas covering all aspects from pre contract documentation through to contract administration to claims preparation and dispute resolution.

David Mills FRICS, PrQS, PMAQS, RQS, MCost Eng

Consultant

David is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and commercial adviser with more than 35 years broad experience at senior level in major international engineering and construction companies, professional quantity surveying, project management, multi disciplinary and construction dispute consultancies. David has held equity directorships, country manager, commercial contract management, senior claim consultant and client’s representative positions. His experience has been gained in Europe, North America, Africa, the Middle and Far East covering pre and post contract as well as claims and witness roles. Project sectors have included road, bridges, airports, rail, mass transit, nuclear, power, gold mining, process, industrial, high rise offices, retail, leisure, housing, health, pharmaceutical, convention centre, education, foreign embassies, palaces, religious, utilities, communications, marine and defense, up to US$2 Billions capex.

Dave Nixon

Consultant

Dave has extensive experience in offshore construction and heavy engineering industries, this includes involvement and engagement with every major oil company whilst dealing with tender compilation, contract, commercial and financial control requirements. Employment has progressed and evolved from a tender and proposals environment to company chief quantity surveyor, commercial manager of a major oil and gas construction organisation. Areas of expertise consist of project management, contract valuation and costing, system development and control, claims preparation services. International experience comprises secondment to South Africa, Malaysia and United Arab Emirates.

Paul Pegman FInstCES

Consultant

Paul has over 40 years in the process plant and offshore construction industry. A commercial manager with considerable experience of contract administration, contract disputes, dispute avoidance, arbitration, litigation and mediation. Recently managed multi million pound litigation for offshore fabrication contractor with successful outcome. Other recent assignments include smaller disputes between subcontractor and main contractor, all with successful outcomes.

Colin MacWhirter ARICS

Consultant

Colin has over 40 years experience working as a chartered quantity surveyor, starting in the building industry in private practice and local authority and then getting involved in some major civil engineering projects before going into oil and gas projects in 1976. He has been involved in most aspects of quantity surveying from preparation of tender documents to settlement of final accounts and negotiating claims with and without legal interface. Colin has worked overseas in Europe, Canada, Australia and South Africa.

Peter Douglass BA (Hons)

Managing Director of CD Group

Peter gained a degree in Law from Sheffield University before joining a P.Q.S. firm specialising in claims preparation and negotiation in 1984. He now has over twenty years commercial experience within the offshore and marine construction industry, including a six year period as a Senior Project Quantity Surveyor for AMEC. He joined the CD Group as Commercial Director in 1995 and has been Group Managing Director since the start of 2006.
