CD of London
CD was a recently divorced, single mum with two children of 10 and 14 including G who has Global Development Disorder and Severe Learning Difficulties.
She sent an application for a holiday break to a northern charity but heard nothing from them for several months.
To her enquiry about progress, they claimed to have no knowledge of her in spite of sending her a letter with the application pack.
Without apology, they sent CD a second pack. She submitted that, once again with supportive letters from G’s school, but after several more months, that charity still failed to respond with even an acknowledgement of her request.
She e-mailed them several times and left numerous answerphone messages but heard nothing from their administrator or their three trustees.
By now CD was utterly disillusioned. She contacted us and, within a few weeks of receiving her application, we paid for the family to go to CentreParcs together with CD’s sister and two further children.
To ensure they all had a good time, and that the children could enjoy the facilities as fully as possible, we also made £200 spending money available.
