JS of Northants
JS was referred to us by Kettering Sure Start.
She is a single parent to twin boys C and B, aged 11 months, and a lively and sociable daughter R aged 2 years.
After splitting with her partnert, JS and the children lost their family home and were moved into a hostel.
They had to share one tiny room the children were not allowed into the communal kitchen because of safety regulations and thei ages - so entire family had to live on microwave meals cooked in their room.
After months of this, and the stress that it caused, they were allocated a house but their difficulties had taken a real toll in the meantime.
Kettering Sure Start funded a single session for the children to attend a local nursery, which they thoroughly enjoyed and which gave JS a welcome break, but their funding would not cover any further sessions.
Our trustees were pleased to pay the nursery £1,186 for a decent series of sessions after which Kettering Sure Start feel the family will be in a better position to cope with life in their new home.
