RH and her husband N have daughter L who was 2 years old and son J who was 7.
J had many complex medical problems which led to three heart operations and the need for still further corrective surgery.
J has to be fed overnight by gastrostomy pump and he has sacral agenesis which is basically the absence of the lower part of the spine and which makes him incontinent and creates walking difficulties.
Despite all of this, J is an inspiration to others. He now attends main stream school, with the help of 2 class workers, and he has a lot of friends.
RH works at a local hospital and her husband N devotes his time to providing 24-hour care for J.
Their request was for help with a respite break in Dorset at a cost of £645. They hoped to get some help from the Family Fund but, as that could not be guaranteed, we made the whole sum available subject to the outcome of the Family Fund negotiations.
