THE WINDOW SEAT
“That’s it.” I said to myself. My passport, checked, invitation letter, checked, bus ticket checked. Everything seems to be where it should be. Outside of my window the Feather Fairy has sprinkled streets with downy snow. Christmas lights light up the whole village. I can’t believe that tomorrow I’ll be in Britain, all by myself, living with a strange family and looking after two little girls. They’ve got Santa instead of Jesus for Christmas! What if they won’t like me? Will I understand them? This is going to be my first, big step towards adulthood. Good night stars, at least you will come with me.
This morning is too quiet for my liking. Did they notice? For the first time in my life I am doing something by myself and I don’t feel anything. At last everything is ready. “Dry your tears mum, I’ll think of you every day. Be strong for her dad and please look after my small friend. Thanks for understanding Lucy, my beautiful sister.” I turn around and have a final look on the house filled with child’s memories and blend of Christmas fragrance. A few more glimpses at the garden full of sparkly snow. Good-bye familiar faces. Good-bye my best friend. Good-bye old lady’s ‘Mafia’ and your small village rules. Good bye theatre, the love of my life. How will you all change? ctd.
This is one of my first stories I have written in English language.
Homesick
I feel lonely
on this island
full of people.
I’m waiting
for a wave
which will bring
a new ship
so I could catch up
with my memories
which disappeared
into the horizon.

Couple
I found you sitting alone,
so I took your hand.
I don’t know who you are
maybe a miracle,
bright light
which will make my soul laugh,
or maybe
you are just an ordinary liar.

Colour change
She’s getting a headache. Something sticks to her heel. When she lifts her foot up she sees sticky gray chewing gum laughing in her face. A sleazy old man licks his lips when their eyes meet and the sound of a horn makes her jump. Her step quickens. A corner cafe promises a perfect hideout.
Steamy coffee comforts her as the warmth spreads inside. Her eyes wander towards the window. The sky is as gray as the concrete buildings around. Suddenly her eyes spot a flying rainbow of colours and her mind dismisses the monotones of this morning and wonders about the beauty of this creature. The shimmering vibrancy of this butterfly awakens the sun and one little beam of light penetrates the thick stormy cloud and shines through. The peacock butterfly starts to flutter against the window feeling betrayed by this clear wall. Its sparkling scales change into rainbow clouds as she makes a hand cage around it and the world closes in on this gentle being, when the darkness descends. With a half drank coffee left on the table she quickly walks towards the door with a treasure in her hands. She can imagine wildflower meadows and the sweet scent of mignonette as the light breeze of morning strokes her face. With the anticipation of a saviour she opens her hands and lets the butterfly free. When the flutter of the wings disappears leaving a sprinkle of dust in the air, she smiles serenely to herself.

Love
Naked life told a story
about two cold stones
while he seduced
raindrops
as they fell in my heart.
He gently opened
your lonely hands
and gave you
my soul.

Second Chance
Street lunatic sold his soul
to the devil
and opened a new part of his life.
He went to look for love,
that cruel daughter of nobody
and found redemption.

Lucia
Lonely smile faded through the air, while the stale,
uniformed days became reality, without you.
Cruelty of your God took my breath away!
I looked for you in my childhood memories
and I still long for that beautiful smile.
