DRAYTON WRITERS
Visit our members' pages by clicking the Writers' Group button on the left. We're a group of writers (and friends) from Market Drayton, Shropshire, who formed five years ago to share our work, as well as scurrilous gossip and information about the publishing world. I lied about the gossip. A bit anyway.
We're a lively group and we're beginning to look at ways of working with other groups to cross pollinate ideas and inspiration.
What can we offer you?
- Manuscript reading and evaluation service.
- Constructive comment
- Editing
- One-to-one tutorials at an affordable rate.
We have members experienced in:
- Short story writing
- Drama
- Academic writing
- Non-fiction
- Poetry
- Longer prose works and novels.
We're interested in helping new writers find their own voice and style. A number of us have had our work published and we share information about the publishing world, competitions and events. But some of us write because we like expressing ourselves this way and publication is not our main aim. We work with other groups in the area and hold Open Mike events to which other writers come to read their work. We published a collection of our work last year called Creatures Great and Small and are aiming for a more ambitious publication later in 2008.
The Writers' Group: Thursday 11-1pm
We meet once a month on a Thursday afternoon at Raven House, opposite Morrisons, where we take it in turns to provide formal writing exercises for the group, and present work for discussion and constructive criticism. Contact Mary for dates and details. 01630 657055
